Fundraising cheque presented to council

18 March 2007

A cheque for £40,000 was presented today to Simon Partridge, Leader of North Norfolk District Council by Jack Hall, Chairman of Coastal Concern Ltd.

This represents the major installment of funds raised to date by the charity to contribute to the cost of carrying out defence work at Happisburgh – at least a further £10,000 will follow when final amounts are banked from Gift Aid and other sources.

This contribution has allowed the Council to increase the scale of works carried out at Happisburgh by at least 25% and should make a significant increase in the benefit the village will receive from what is still only an interim solution.

An audience of about 50 locals and several officers and elected representatives of North Norfolk District Council watched the presentation, whilst behind them more rock was still arriving from a quarry in Leicestershire.
